Hormone Imbalance

Hormone imbalance can leave you feeling out of control. Sometimes like you are a stranger in your own body. If you are concerned about feeling uncomfortable in your own skin, maybe hormone testing and balancing treatments will help you feel at ease again.

Bio-identical hormone replacement therapy (BHRT)

Most women have been introduced to the world of synthetic hormones by using birth control pills or hormone replacement therapy (HRT). Synthetic hormones are not natural and can cause a variety of side effects like, hair loss, swelling, decreased testosterone levels, headaches and nausea. Various studies have linked synthetic hormones with breast cancer risk and heart problems. Many OBGYN’s have stopped their use altogether or use them with much caution.

Bio-identical hormones are made from naturally derived identical hormones, mimicking your body’s own. Most have very few side effects as long as the dosage is right for them. Determining your personal dosage profile can be achieved via testing for your own hormones first. Dr. Cheryl will evaluate your hormone deficiencies and discuss a treatment plan for you. Sometimes your imbalances can be regulated with vitamins and herbs instead of BHRT. Rest assured, both options will be evaluated according to your personal history and lab values.

Adrenal hormone imbalances

Have you been running like a hamster in a wheel? Feeling exhausted and burned out?
Many new parents that have not been sleeping well or those that work shifts at night have tired adrenal glands. Simple testing can determine if your levels of cortisol are too low or too high. Supplementation can make dramatic differences in the way you feel, thus improving your performance at work and play. Regulating your adrenal hormones can also reset circadian rhythms that have been off track, for example being a night owl instead of a morning person. After testing, Dr. Cheryl will explain your hormone levels to you and how we could work to correct them.
